Very conservative (1990's) styles for women. 'Fattomano': Custom-made tango shoes for women and men. ![]() No flex in the arch at ‘Neo’ – too stiff throughout their length for me. Mostly very high heels that are or just feel much higher than CIF’s tall ones do. 'Neo Tango': sort of mimic CIFs but are of noticeably inferior quality materials and craftsmanship. To me, CIFs are better made and finished than the best Italian street shoes selling for 400-800 euro in Italy right now. I later replaced them with CIFs after the stick-on (yuck!) BLACK 'chrome soles' put on the cheap ones stained my best carpet at home black and no professional cleaner could get rid of those marks. 'Todo Tango': Synthetic soles but hey, they were cheap. That's the only time while shopping in BA that I was taken for a dumb tourist. I hadn’t anticipated being cheated by a tango shoe store! The store manager refused to even LOOK AT the shoe when I brought them back and so I think they knew about the flaw all along. I didn't catch the manufacturing flaw while walking on the shop’s too plush carpet in them. She returned looking windblown and carrying that faulty pair. (Re the faulty shoes, the sales' lady had gone away for half an hour saying she’d get some and would be 3 minutes. The store wouldn't replace them with any other pair in stock! Those shoes were made by Darco's which I'd thought would be a respectable brand because its jazz style red/silver printed leather dance sneakers were so comfy for practice. 'Bailarin Porteno' who sold me the shoes whose one heel was attached at the wrong angle horizontally! They cost almost as much as CIFs do. I sold mine to another dancer in Canada and tried to not cry when I later saw her dancing in them. These shoes’ sole and shank were engineered by Greta herself for tangueras but it doesn’t work for me, darn. See some of their lower heeled ones here: Refined, strictly elegant or very pretty styles and shades. Here are some other BA tango shoe stores and brands. ![]() ![]() That would be too over-the-top as business attire here. I'm told that BA women wear their CIFs to the office. I wear my shoes only for tango although where I live now, I could easily wear them as well walking to dinner and strolling the shore. I just ask when in the shop for the 7.5's and the styles and colours I want. I have 8 pairs of CIF's lower 7.5-8cm heeled shoes and one pair of 10cm. Of course, if a shoe isn't right for somebody, she ought not buy it.
